My first visit to Hawaii: Looking to play with some fire

Hello!

I am visiting the lovely islands from July 9th - 21st. My friend Jaime and I are starting in Honolulu heading down to the big island and then traveling back up to Honolulu for our flight out.

We are both fire spinners, Jamie does staff and is an amazing photographer. I plat with poi, hoop and staff. Not sure if I'll be able to bring a staff with me but I'll be folding up a fire hoop to bring. ; )

Where should we go? Any events happening at the same time? Drum circles and the like?

Anyone know how I might go about teaching some hoop dancing workshops along the way?
Much love and all the best,
Sandra

FTHawaii Summer Solstice Gathering in 2 Weeks

Aah, it's summer and time slips by like a dream.
Wake up and register, oh lotus eater!
Our mainland cousins are all fired up for the summer festival season
and we are fortunate enough to have our own local Gathering
coming up in just 2 weeks!

Fire Tribe Hawaii is Gathering for the Summer Solstice from
Wednesday, June 18th through Sunday the 22nd on the
Leeward side of Oahu, Hawaii.
Register on our website below:

firetribehawaii.org

Registration closes on Sunday night, June 15th.
(Be kind to our volunteers and register ASAP.)

Come join us in Celebration!
Come Home to a village of friends, and revitalize yourself through making ecstatic magic and celebratory art! We honor all paths as we revel in chanting, dancing, drumming, poetry, sacred sounds, fire spinning, wellness work, crafts, body adornment and spontaneous sacred ceremony. The fire circle will spiral through each night until we greet the rising sun!

Treat yourself by attending as much of the Gathering as you can! Deepen and enrich your experience with time to relax, build community, and immerse yourself in the Process.

Reminder: Due to the rousing success of our Afterglow at this past Winter's Gathering, we are continuing the practice. We have shifted the schedule so that the last all-night fire circle takes place on Friday night (6/20) instead of the usual Saturday. Saturday morning we'll enact the Great Banishing Ritual then the rest of the time until Sunday afternoon will be dedicated to enjoying the Afterglow. This schedule allows those of us who need to leave early to do so without missing out on the Fire. Early Village Building starts on Tuesday (6/17)!

See You in Sacred Space! ... and please spread the word!

Fire Tribe Hawaii
and
Hugs from Trish

URGENT ACTION!! We need you to send email a copy of this right NOW!

If we have ANY hope of burning the phoenix at Rebirth 2008 we NEED the
community to come together RIGHT NOW to make Mayor Harry Kim change
his mind and grant us a burn exemtion. They are telling us that we can
NOT burn the phoenix based on an emergency proclamation banning all
outdoor fires. The Mayor can give us an exemtion but will not give us
the time of day as we are nobodys.

We NEED you the community to send in a mass of emails (please
personalize to your liking but hit on the same points) to help them
understand just how much the community is invested in the burning of
the phoenix.

Time is running out, please send this in to Mayor Kim at cohmayor@co.hawaii.hi.us
RIGHT NOW! Thank you for your help, with your input we might actually pull this
off.

Here is the email we need you to send (please personalize it and
delete everything above it, thank you):

Aloha Honorable Mayor Kim,

I am a participant in the annual Rebirth festival in Pahoa. I have
learned recently that the centerpiece of the event, the ceremonial
burning of the phoenix, may be prevented by your emergency
proclamation prohibiting non-cooking fires.

The ceremonial burning of the phoenix has a lot of meaning to me. It
is the culmination of an event that has:

-Brought me closer to my neighbors and community
-Helped to support local art and artists
-Become a boon to a economically troubled part of the island

The ceremonial burning of the phoenix is the formal end to Rebirth.
Without it I leave empty and unfulfilled. Please grant a burn exemtion
to Rebirth 2008 so we can continue our tradition.

Mahalo nui loa for your time and kokua,

Your Name

I just registered for May Fire

http://www.vegasvortex.com/details.php?id=13

I've been to several of these before, and always look forward to going back. I just love the energy - the intimate size - the wind-carved red earth - the fine music - the gorgeous chants - the good friends - the spoken word offerings - the expressive dancing - the high level of engagement.

I hope to see many of my clan there - are you going?

Unprecedented Tibetan Protests Worldwide

Pro-Tibetan protests have occurred in record numbers across the world showing the Chinese Authority that they may be able to kill and suppress inside Tibet, but the people of the world are speaking ... Protesters in Boston, Vancouver, Toronto, Calgary, Ottawa, Germany, Italy, Mysore, New Delhi, Chennai, Buffalo, Chile, Vienna, Israel, Denmark, Lithuania, Norway, Chicago, Bangkok, Seoul, New York, Sydney, London, San Francisco, Minnesota, Barcelona, Munich, Belgium, Taiwan, Paris, and even a vigil was held in Beijing. Unprecedented numbers of peace marchers, hunger strikes, vigils and protests in front of Chinese Embassies worldwide is surely not what the Communist Chinese Government had intended when they made the decision to 'crackdown' on Tibetans. One report even states that Tibetan protesters were gunned down in broad daylight in the streets of Lhasa. The Israeli parliament held a discussion about "the Genocide in Tibet".

Maybe the world is asking China to have compassion if they want to have their 'precious' Olympic Games if you read in between the lines. Several top athletes have already threatened to boycott the games and Beijing can't even promise clean air for them! I hope for a quick end to the utter stupidity and arrogance of the Chinese Authority in regards to the complete brutalization of any sense of the term 'human rights' amidst this 'crackdown' on autonomy ...

Gratitude/Job Opportunity/Offer of Place to Stay

Thanks to all for yet another amazing gathering! Special thanks to
Thea for her artwork and to Ariel (spelling?) for painting herself in
the bathroom and giving me the courage to try body painting for the
first time. And to the red tent for the inspiration and all the talk
of the eyes. The red tent really added to the event for me, because
it was a special way to connect with women and made me feel
particularly welcome at the gathering and inspired to spread my wings
and try some new stuff.

I wanted to offer again that if anyone from the gathering needs a
place to stay for awhile, I have extra furnished rooms in my place
until I find housemates. It would please me to be able to help some
FireTribers out with a place to stay who might not otherwise be able
to afford to stay in Hawaii.

Speaking of which, if anyone needs a rental, I'm seeking housemates.
$550/month for a bedroom or $1075 for a huge 2-room suite with 2
bedrooms, renovated bathroom, 2 closets and separate entrance. Large
living room/kitchen area (about 342sf) with sliding glass door to
backyard. Mango tree. 2-min. drive to H1 and Kam Hwy, 1-min. walk to
43 bus, 432, Ala Moana Center, 81 express, etc., 5-min. drive to H2,
Pearl City, restaurants, Waikele shops, etc., 7-min. drive to H3, 15-
min. drive to Wahiawa.

For those looking for work, I am hiring tutors for my new program
coordinator job. It pays $18-30/hour, depending on level of
education, but it's only a few hours a week. The main requirement is
to be taking college classes or have a degree of some sort.

Finally, I'm having a white elephant gift exchange party on Sunday,
Dec. 30th from 1pm until whenever, and I would be thrilled to have
lots of FireTribers there.

I love you guys!

Love and Joy,
Tigris
I want to let y'all know about the gathering September 28, 29 and 30th @ the Shire..
This will be an awareness raising and community sharing event, dealing with the very real invasions of homes and families in Puna, due to a plant the earth grows naturally. Testimonies will be shared by individuals who have been affected by this including mothers and children. Many bands soon to be announced. Activism ideas and support by Roger Christie and others. High Times magazine will also be coming to do an article about the event. Any singers, dancers, musicians, poets or other creative souls who want to contribute, share testimony, support or learn can contact me for more info here on tribe or at www.myspace.com/irisohana

The Ka Pilina camp @ Burning Man is BACK!

Going to Burning Man 2007? Want to camp with a bunch of other Hawaii burners at the Hawaii Regional Embassy on the playa?

Now is your chance! The Ka Pilina camp will be making it's 4th consecutive appearance on the playa. It looked like we were not going to make it this year but a few dedicated local burners would not let that happen. We are not going to be a village and the camp is downsized a bit from previous years as we are trying to take a different approach this year.

We will be relying on campers to be self-reliant, meaning there will be next to nothing that the camp will provide (mainly organizing the space and putting up flags). Each camper is expected to not only come prepared (your OWN shade, food, water, showers, evaporation ponds, etc.) but also to carry away all the garbage in the camp whether it is yours or not.

The camp
We are going for a lot 200' x 200' and we are going to cap it at 125-150 people. Mike Maung is returning with his mega-art with Lawnmower II, a 25' tall sculpture lit up with EL wire. We will have 3 "mini-themecamps" within our themecamps this year: Han's Hippie Fishing Bait and Tackle, the Hawaiian Awa Hut, and Inflatuland. We hope to be on a corner again with Mike's sculpture near the point. The 3 mini-themecamps will be across an open area (for any fire performance and the luau) in an arc facing the sculpture. The most interactive elements will get the most frontage with more private camping towards the rear. We will most likely be back from the playa as in years' past but that means we are also more likely to by near but not too close to the portapotties.

The 5th annual Friday sunset luau
We decided that after being a "soup kitchen for stoners" (like 750-1000 of them) we are going to go back to the roots of the luau which is more like a "stone soup" type of thing. We are asking for everyone who wishes to participate in the luau to bring something to share as in food and/or beverages. We want to get back to the luau being a place and time for local Hawaii burners to meet each other in a relaxing and friendly environment. We never intended the luau to be just a "big party" we throw for all Black Rock City. Everyone is welcome to attend, but we just want to be clear what the luau is about, participants contributing and people (especially kama'aina) connecting.

Get involved
Want to be part of a growing legend at Burning Man? Join the Ka Pilina camp today! The camp is being organized by:

Geoff Hearl (maui@kapilina.org)
Seth Lahne (oahu@kapilina.org)
John Corbin (hawaii@kapilina.org)

Contact them with any of your questions and if you want to sign up.

We will also have a page on our website (www.kapilina.org) soon with more of the details, and possibly a way to register for the camp (maybe the luau too?).

We also have a discussion list on Yahoo Groups just for the Ka Pilina camp. Go to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/kapilinacamp/ and join the group.

As always there will also be lots of discussion about it on our Tribe (our main discussion forum) at http://kapilina.tribe.net.

Rebirth '07 Art Grant, Themecamp, and Low Income deadline March 15th!

This is a reminder that March 15th is the deadline for submitting applications for Art Grants and Low Income tickets, as well as registering a Themecamp.

Art Grants

If you are an artist or performer and need help bringing your interactive art to Rebirth, please apply for an Art Grant. We are giving out $1,000 (total, to be split between grant winners) in art grants for Rebirth 2007 and we have not received many applications so far. Go to http://www.kapilina.org/kapilina/artgrants.html to get the application and after you have answered the questions send it to our Big Island Art Director Hope (hawaiiart@kapilina.org). The deadline for submissions is March 15th, winners will be announced by April.

Low Income tickets

If you want to apply for a Low Income ticket just go to http://www.kapilina.org/kapilina/lowincometix.html to get the application. Fill it out and send it to John Corbin (bigisland@kapilina.org) before the deadline March 15th, recipients will be notified by April.

Themecamps

Calling all themecamps! What's a themecamp? It is when a group bands together around some sort of theme, they pool resources and produce their own little interactive fantasy encampment. Themecamps that get placement on the most visible spots are expected to be interactive and visually interesting, but there is plenty of room for your vision or whimsy. For all the information you need about registering your themecamp please go to http://www.kapilina.org/kapilina/participate.html to get the questionnaire. After you fill it out please send it to Matt, the Themecamp Coordinator (themecamps@kapilina.org), he will guide you through the process and place camps onsite. The deadline for themecamp registration is March 15th.

Join HFT's Kevin Roddy at PantheaCon!

Just to give folks a head's up about PantheaCon! This huge "all-Pagan"
event is the largest of it's kind on the West Coast. It takes place
over President's Day weekend in San Jose. The schedule of events has
gone up on their website now. It's jam-packed this year.
http://www.pantheacon.com

Sunday night there are two Fire Family/Alchemical events:

AT 7PM, Kevin Roddy from the HFT is going to be giving a talk on
Alchemical Fire Circles. There will also be a bit of video along with
Kevin's talk, and a few words from others who've been to alchemical
circles.

AT 11PM, the Bay Area Spark Collective will be hosting an indoor fire
circle! We got the last slot of the night so maybe we can go a bit
later than a usual class. Please come play, sing, drum, dance, and BE
with us! Anyone who's interested in helping out with the ritual, esp
a swift crew of magickal beings to set up the space, please come over
and join the Spark Collective mailing list!
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/spark_collective

If you're coming to the con, come play with us! For those of you who
might be in the area but don't want to do the whole four day event,
you can get day or evening only passes. And remember, Monday IS a
holiday, so you have a great excuse to stay up late drumming and
dancing on a Sunday!

We hope to welcome you home there!

~ Rae

Hi everybody!

We're going to Makua Beach Park this weekend!

We had a great time last year (and the year before that) - hardly anyone there but us, and we played music, swam with dolphins, snorkeled, shared good food...

Who's in?

I'll probaby go on Saturday - though if someone is going out Friday, let us know so we can find you.

If anyone is in contact with mainlanders still on island, please let them know (they might not have Internet access)
Here Comes Johnny

Aloha Fire Tribe Family!

Despite being smack dab in the middle of a huge NYE festival production cycle (seaofdreamsnye.com) I am once again scheduled to join y'all round the fire next week!

Question: does anyone have a cooler I could borrow for the course of the event?

In addition, my beloved Lieve and I are planning to return to Maui in mid-January for several months. We would very much appreciate you keeping an eye/ear out for us in our quest for a place to rent.

We are looking for a medium/large cottage/studio/bungalow that is at least semi-furnished. We could live in a house with others...so long as they are mature/grounded...but our first preference is to find a place of our own. And, as home owners, we know how to maintain property safely...so we are open to finding a place that requires a greater degree of responsibility than just a yurt.

We require high-speed internet access, washer/dryer access and a real kitchen (as opposed to an electric hot plate, etc.).

We would prefer to be away from the Huelo rainbelt or the frigid Olinda air. Haiku/Paia/Kuau would be first choice...but we're open to other options.

We can provide a wealth of glowing references...both on and off island. We have no pets, no kids, etc.

See you round the fire soon!

Mahalo,
JohnnyD
When you click on the above link, you will see just how easy we will be to find. Come on by and say hello! Spinner & I will be setting up camp on Monday, the 28th. We will be setting up the fire circle on Tuesday afternoon.

WCW and NION @ Gay Pride

I know that 9AM on a Sat is pretty early for most of you...

Gay Pride Parade: Saturday, June 24, 9 am

World Can't Wait-Hawai`i will have a contingent in the Gay Pride Parade this Saturday, June 24th. We invite all World Can't Wait and Not In Our Name supporters to join the contingent with its 8 bright green banners with each of the "your government" statements from the World Can't Wait Call (http://www.worldcantwait.net) and to pass out the Call to Drive Out the Bush Regime.

Especially in light of a recently uncovered Pentagon document classifying homosexuality as a mental disorder, to identify as a homosexual is increasingly becoming a crime in the United States. Under the Bush Regime and its Christian fundamentalist counterparts in power, discriminatory hiring practices regarding sexuality abound. Violent hate crimes committed against the LGBTQ community are constant. Hundreds of servicemen and women are discharged from the military each year under a "Don't ask, don't tell" policy.

Now, the Pentagon is breaking with widely accepted scientific thought and simply tolerance in general, by returning to the classification of homosexuality as a disorder or mental illness. In the document, a "Defense Department Instruction" manual, homosexuality is listed with other "defects." The medical community withdrew this classification from the books decades ago, and has widely refuted the Pentagon's archaic and bigoted claim. For more information on the Pentagon's classification, see TruthOut

The LGBT community can't wait, and neither can the world! Drive out the Bush Regime!

The parade begins at Magic Island (Ala Moana Park) at 9 am and will go through Waikiki to Kapiolani Park. Just look for the green banners and NION flags. There will be buses from Kapiolani Park back to Ala Moana Park, where there will be an afternoon of entertainment, information booths and food at McCoy Pavilion throughout the afternoon. There will be little parking at Magic Island but you can usually find a space at Ala Moana Shopping Center.

HOOPING @ Kokua

It's turned out that I don't have a ticket for the festival after all.
And at this point I am not really incllined to shell out a bunch of cash only to have to deal with amateur night inside the venue.
Instead I've decided to donate the $100 the scalpers are charging to The Kokua Foundation to support what Jack's trying to do for our kids here in Hawaii.
So... I thought I'd call a not-so-impromtu HOOP SESSION in the park outside the show.
I've been told that you can hear the music just as well behind the shell, only minus all the yuppies and tourists.

Anybody with me!?!!!!

I'm thinking I'll head down to Kapiolani Park at 2 or 3PM
and stay until the show lets out.
Look for the hoopers or else call me tomrrow
for a more specific location.

Sacred All Night Fire Circles

Aloha fire friends,

if you haven't heard already, there is an established tribe called Sacred All Night Fire Circle:

http://tribes.tribe.net/sacredfire

We'd love to see all of you there. We've got 340 members and growing. Please join (if you aren't a member already!), post about all the all night fire circle events you know about or plan to go to. In these times of change I think it is helpful for there to be cross-communication and cross-pollination.

Continue to share the Fire Tribe Hawaii gatherings with those who aren't in Hawaii!

I hope that the tribe will be a central information hub about where we can get our fires all over the world. Support new fires, stay connected to existing fires. Join your friends and beloveds on fire circle tours. Arrange rides, ask questions, and post reviews of the events you go to. Tell us what really happened at March of the Hare!

Your presence is valued. Please spread the word to your non-tribe friends! They don't have to be a member of tribe to access the page and read the information and reviews at:

http://tribes.tribe.net/sacredfire

I'm about to embark on a journey to Maui, then possibly Kauai & Big Island. I'd love to meet up with kind family. I'm into raw foods, farms, alternative healing, yoga, nature, dancing all night and more. I'm looking for places to stay along the way. Will be with beautiful soul family from this Wed. until Sunday, then solo after that.

I'll also be selling Ma Jaya's Herbal Smoke Blend. Some friends have taken it to Hawaii, so maybe you've smoked it?? Any help with good places/friends to sell to would be great. This is how I'll be funding the trip. Natural foods markets, herb stores, new-age/pagan stores, tobacco shops, head shops, freak boutiques are good places.

Big Mahalo! I look forward to sharing with you.
Love,
Jaya

New: beginning doumbek drumming class in Honolulu

Aloha everyone! (please pardon the cross posting!)

I'll be starting a weekly doumbek class in early March (a doumbek is a small, goblet-shaped drum popular in the musics of the North African, Mediterranean, Middle Eastern and Eastern European regions). Although I'm not a master doumbek player, several of my friends have asked me to share what I know, and I said, "OK."

The class will be held on Tuesdays from 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM at a private home in Manoa Valley, Honolulu. Areas of instruction will include basic rhythmic theory, hand positioning and playing techniques, timing, reading and writing simple notation, and playing common dance rhythms. Tuition is $10 per class. A small number of drums are available for short-term loan.

About me: I began began drumming at the age of seven, and have studied a variety of percussion styles, including Middle Eastern, West African, Afro-Caribbean, and Brazilian. I've been a member of several local percussion groups, including Damned Spot Drums and Sambanda. I'm a full-time instructional librarian at a college, and an active volunteer for Fire Tribe Hawaii.

About my teaching style: I believe that we are each our own best instructor - we acquire, incorporate, and apply new skills in our own ways. My role, then, is to plan and facilitate learning experiences, provide feedback and encouragement, and suggest practice strategies (since most of us don't have time to practice *a lot*, we need to find ways to practice *well*). In other words, my job is to provide resources you can use in teaching yourself how to play.

For more information about the class, please contact me directly via email: syncopassionate-doumbek@yahoo.com or phone: 864-1701.

xoxoxo,

tara

hoopers or aspiring hoopers on Oahu?

So... I just made the big move from SF to Honolulu and it appears that there is not a Hawaii hoop group as of yet. I am willing to create one but wanted to see if there are already other hoopers here in the 808 state who'd be interested in a regular gathering or maybe want to co-moderate with me???

Since I am relatively new to hooping, myself, I'd really love to have input from some more seasoned girls and guys. And I did bring 10 hoops over with me so there's enough to get some newbies started as well.

You can post here or email me directly.

Thanks and hoopy love to all!

A friend and I will be visiting the islands for the month of June, at least. I travel a good deal, but only in the continental US as of yet. So, I've gotten to visit with spinners a number of places... so I was excited and hopeful that there is, indeed, a community of folks there to watch and play with.

Any tips on hang-outs, meet-ups, shows, jams?

Thanks!

Hi again folks,

The donations and RSVPs are rolling in. Oberon is going to be there. Here is some missing information to make it easier for everyone to be involved. Deposits can be made directly to the accout! Just walk, or dance, to your local Washington Mutual Bank and make a deposit to account number 181-259943-9. If mail is easier Mail to:

TranceMission
c/o Matthew Petronko
428 Madison Taylor Ct.
Las Vegas NV 89144

I would ask that after you donate that you email me here so I may amass a list of all the contributers.

ALSO-

There is a new way to donate! Sponsor a dancer! One or more dancers may be wearing pedometers to track how far we walk during the night. You can sponsor a dancer by the meter or by the mile, or any other measurement of legnth. I will leave the donations up to you as I don't know what to expect from the distance. Any takers for $1 a mile? Maybe $10? A penny a meter?

AND-

Does anyone have a chainsaw? Some waterbuckets for firesafety? Assistance with setup on Thursday. Drummers and drums, these we need more of. Alter Materials too!

If anyone has any more questions email me or call me at 510-282-5859.

Thank you everyone for your enthusiasm

> Dear Friends,
>
> Something amazing is happening and I wanted to share it with you. My dear
> friend and apprentice Matthew Petronko is organizing and hosting a
> wonderful benefit event on our behalf, and he asked me to write a little
> note of introduction.
>
> The event is called TranceMission, a 3-night, all-night sacred fire
> ritual, at a lovely private home in the Santa Cruz mountains this coming
> weekend (Friday 8/12- Monday 8/15). See below for more information...
>
> I will be there for the event and Morning Glory also (her mother's health
> permitting), to join in the festivities and share stories, songs, chants,
> drumming and dancing around the fire. We'll bring along a batch of my
> books, Grimoire for the Apprentice Wizard, which I'll be happy to
> autograph for anyone who wishes to purchase one. We'll also bring some of
> our Millennial Gaia statues, and our new jewelry including the beautiful
> Phoenix Caduceus inspired by FireDance. We look forward to raising our
> energy together and sharing sacred space.
>
> The occasion for this benefit is to help us move into a new home. We have
> lived at our present location, "Shady Grove," in Penngrove for 5½ years
> now. This is a charming little complex of dwellings inhabited by nine
> people, five of whom were the original Ravenheart family, but now also
> including our friends Linda and Julie, and Morning Glory's sweet
> 88-year-old invalid mother, Polly. It is also the home of our family
> businesses-Mythic Images and the Grey School of Wizardry.
>
> But the property had actually been purchased those years ago by our
> 10-year Ravenheart family- and business-partner, Liza. Recently, she has
> gotten engaged, and she and her fiancé have served us all with eviction
> notices. Most of the gang here have already moved out, leaving just
> Morning Glory, Polly, Linda and me.
>
> We have been searching for a suitable new home for us, and for our
> businesses, and have applied for several promising places. As much as we
> would love to purchase a property, such a dream is unfortunately beyond
> our present means, so for now, we are just looking at rentals. We can
> certainly afford the monthly rent on those places we are looking at, but
> we will need additional money for deposits and moving expenses, and our
> own resources have been pretty well depleted at the moment by restocking
> merchandise for the coming holiday season. Needless to say the timing on
> this move is hardly ideal.
>
> And so--all on his own--Matthew conceived this generous idea to throw a
> benefit for us. It will also be--all on its own--a fantastic Fire Circle
> event! We are deeply touched and moved by this kindness, and are looking
> forward to seeing you there. If you can't attend, then please hold a place
> in your heart and your magick for us, so that this story will have a happy
> ending.
>
> Blessed Be,
> Oberon
>
This is a reminder that 'Elements::Water' will be held this Friday,
July 15th. Please note: THE LOCATION HAS BEEN CHANGED! Due to venue
difficulties (they closed!) we had to move the location of the party
at the last minute. The new location will be at the Mercury Bar, 1154
Fort Street Mall, Chinatown (entrance on Chaplain Lane, off of N
Bethel. If you park at the lot behind Mark's Garage and walk across
the street toward Diamond Head, you will be there, easy!).

Until we can secure a stable venue, this is going to be the last
'Elements' we do. Please come out and support! All profit will go to
help us create an outstanding 'Future Primitive' event in August.

Hello Hawaii Fire Tribe friends,

I have just made arrangements to visit Hawaii July 6-12.
I look forward to seeing you all at the Sacred Arts Circle that week! Too bad I missed the solstice gathering . . .

While my travel schedule is very full and I won't be able
to do much hanging out, I would like to create openness in my
schedule in case anyone feels strongly called to arrange for healing sessions with me.

I intend to hold space for up to three sessions while in town.
Sessions may include Reiki, sacred ceremony, counseling,
and psychic and emotional work. Please contact me off list (liz at firedance.org) or message me here on tribe for more information.

I look forward to connecting and re-connecting with many
of you this July, and I will see you at the Sacred Arts Circle!

By sacred firelight,

My group and I will be traveling to BM this year via RV. I had placed an ad in a Reno paper, RV wanted for BM, and I got many replies.
I'd like to help out one guy over there named Tony Monte who has a 35 foot fifth wheel which will be delivered to your campsite at BM for about 1600.00. This includes renting the trailer and having it hauled both ways. This unit will easily accomodate 6 people. The trailer comes fully equipped with water, propane, toilet, shower, AC, generator, refrig, linens, cookware, the works. Also includes bikes if you need them. Also has a canopy on one side that rolls out. I was going to go with this one but something else came up. All you have to do is get to Burning Man, or Reno for that matter, and ride along in the truck hauling it out there.
Call me if you're interested, 808-828-1026, or my cell at 808-639-3669.

My name is Michael aka DJ Faethe. i am looking for shiny happy people to play for. My ideal environment would be in a crew who focuses on positive energy and is family oriented. i have played several parties in San Francisco as a member of The Pranayuga DJ Collective and here on Oahu at Psylective and Evolving Arts events. i seek to heal, support, and give kindness as well as create magic through dance and togetherness. My greatest high is seeing a floor full of smiling faces knowing that through music our souls and hearts can be healed. i also like to be around when the sun comes up. Please let me know if i can be of service.

Please Send Us Prayer Flags!

Aloha Family of Fire!

Fire Tribe Hawaii is calling on each and every one of you to contribute to the creation of sacred space at the Fire Tribe Summer Solstice Gathering in June!

Through some mysterious mis-adventure, the prayer flag rope holding our 10 gatherings of prayers has returned to the realm of the invisible. We are learning to release our attachment for physical forms... and we are also invested in having a strong personal and collective energetic container
round the fire.

Toward that end, we are asking you to please create a prayer flag - or 2 or 3! - and mail them to us. If you happen to be holding sacred events between now and mid June, you might consider inviting people to make prayer flags to fly in the breezes here in Hawaii!

We encourage you to get creative, bust out those fabric paints, markers,
glitter or what-have-you, and make your prayer, your intention, your will
into a work of original art. It can be words, symbols, or signs.... But
sometime in the next two weeks, please make it, and mail it in, to add your prayers
to ours.

I will depart to the Gathering on Sunday morning, June 12th, so all offerings will need to arrive here by no later than Saturday June 11th. My mailing address is 3934-A Harding Ave. Honolulu, HI 96816. You'll want to use airmail, as surface or book rate takes 4-6 weeks to reach Hawaii.

We are holding this moment as an opportunity for the entire Family of Fire to seed the energetic container of Fire Tribe Hawaii. Whether you have been to one of our Gatherings yet or not, we know this is your home too! Please support us by contributing your unique magick to our circle.

Please feel free to forward this on to anyone or any group connected to our family.

bright blessings!

Going to Burning Man from Hawaii?

Aloha,

Ka Pilina (the Burning Man Hawaii Regional Group) will again have a camp on the playa and we invite all Kama'aina to join. We are also going to be holding our 3rd annual gathering of Hawaii burners (luau) on Friday from 4-8 pm at the Ka Pilina camp. If you are going to BM from Hawaii come to the Ka Pilina camp to meet the others.

If you are interested in joining the camp please put in your space request on out tribe (kapilina.tribe.net). And if you want to participate in our luau we also have a thread where you can say what you are going to bring/how you will contribute.

It is quite a chore getting to the playa from the islands, Ka Pilina is here to make it a little easier. Wherever you camp, if you are from Hawaii please stop by the Ka Pilina camp to meet other Hawaii burners and to see for yourself what we have going on here.

While you are at it check out our main website: www.kapilina.org
